his item is to consider approving the continuance of the following local emergencies:
- Local emergency due to drought conditions;
- Local emergency due to flash flooding and debris flow following the October 19-21, 2021 rains;
- Local emergency due to the December 2021 winter storm event;
- Local emergency due to the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19;
- Local emergency due to the River Complex Fire;
- Local emergency due to the 2021 wildfires;and
- Local emergency due to the 2022 Lightning Fires - Six Rivers Lightning Complex.
The local emergency due to drought conditions was originally declared by the Director of Emergency Services on July 27, 2021. On August 3, 2021 the Board ratified the declaration and confirmed the existence of the local emergency.
The local emergency due to flash flooding and debris flow following the October 19-21, 2021 rains was originally declared by the Director of Emergency Services on October 22, 2021. On October 28, 2021 the Board ratified the declaration and confirmed the existence of the local emergency.
The local emergency due to the December 2021 winter storm event was originally declared by the Director of Emergency Services on December 30, 2021. On January 4, 2022 the Board ratified the declaration and confirmed the existence of the local emergency.
The local emergency due to the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 was originally declared by the Director of Emergency Services on March 19, 2020. On March 23, 2020 the Board ratified the declaration and confirmed the existence of the local emergency.
The local emergency due to the River Complex Fire was originally declared by the Director of Emergency Services on August 17, 2021. On August 20, 2021 the Board ratified the declaration and confirmed the existence of the local emergency.
The local emergency due to the 2021 wildfires was originally declared by the Director of Emergency Services on July 31, 2021. On August 3, 2021 the Board ratified the declaration and confirmed the existence of the local emergency.
The local emergency due to the 2022 Lightning Fires - Six River Lightning Complex was originally declared by the Director of Emergency Services on August 10,2022. On August 16, 2022 the Board ratified the declaration and confirmed the existence of the local emergency.
Based on the provisions in our Trinity County Emergency Operations Plan, adopted on April 20, 2010 and revised on March 19, 2019, local emergencies require the Board of Supervisors to review and confirm the continuances of the emergency at least once every 60 days. The above-mentioned local emergencies have to be reviewed and continued by the Board pursuant to that guideline.
By confirming the continuance of these emergencies, the County is reinforcing the severity of the situation and maintaining our eligibility for potential funding from state and federal agencies.
