In March of 2021, the Grants Department applied for Rural Business Development Grant funding under the U.S Department of Agriculture. This funding was designed to support targeted technical assistance, training and other activities leading to the development or expansion of small and emerging private businesses in rural areas. 

The County was awarded the funding, and Atlas Community Studios was hired as the technical assistance consultant to conduct the process for a placemaking plan. The placemaking plan is specific to Trinity County and through the planning process developed a steering committee and gathered community input through several focus groups and surveys.

The placemaking plan for Trinity County is a collaborative effort of residents working together to coproduce a map of the community with identified areas of opportunity that might improve economic development opportunities and increase the area's quality of life.
